Things I use in Sunday School that My Students LOVE!
Being a Sunday School Teacher is one the most rewarding things You can do and also one of the most challenging. If you stick around here very long you will hear me say this, but not in a way to complain...But because it is true. In a world where we have to compete with games, tv, sports, etc. It can be hard to keep kids' attention on something that happen years ago! But lately I have been digging deep, praying a lot and asking God how I can engage my students. He has helped me find some creative ways to do this! Praise goes completely to Him!
Four things I use...
- Canva
- Kahoot
- Class Dojo
- Rewards
The first thing I want to talk about is Canva. Canva is a Free resource, you can access online and has a ton of graphic design features to choose from. I could literally spend all day playing on this website. You have access to photos, graphics, and all sorts of design tools. You can upload your own photos, create videos, make flyers, create documents, prepare presentations and so much more!!
Ways I use Canva:
- Design Flyers for my Church.
- Make Sunday School Newsletters
- Prepare Bible Story presentations for my class!
- Design games for reading comprehension.
Kahoot
Ways I use Kahoot:
- Make Quizzes
- True or False Games
- Put the Story in Order Quiz
Third I want to mention Class Dojo. This a Fun app that allows you to create a points reward system in your class. It is so simple to use, and if your students go to public school, this is probably something they are already familiar with. You create your class and add your students, then they start raking up the points. They even get them Fun little Characters as their photos.
Ways I use Class Dojo:
Points for:
- Participation
- Good Behavior
- Cleaning up after themselves
- Being Kind
Rewards
Last but not least is Rewards. I use rewards in my Sunday School Class as Encouragement to learn Bible Facts that can seem quite boring to young Children. For Example, The Books of the Bible. I used a Reward system that helped my youth ages 5-11 to learn ALL, YES, ALL the books of the Bible! I was so so proud of them! There was a lot that went into this reward system! Too much to share here but if you're interested, please let me know!In closing I would like to mention that I plan to bring so much more to this blog and hope that you will consider following along. I would love to make a post showing a more in-depth example of How I use each of these things in the classroom. I pray that in some way This can help a Fellow Sunday School Teacher or whoever Ministers to the Youth.
